LEGAL
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Because many Piece of Cake products are personalised or made to order, cancellation outcomes depend on timing and work already committed.
Change of mind
New Zealand law does not generally require a business to provide a refund solely because a customer changes their mind. Where Piece of Cake voluntarily offers a refund, credit or reschedule, any non-recoverable ingredients, custom materials, design work or other costs already committed may be taken into account.
Custom cakes, cupcakes and weddings
Deposits secure production capacity. Requests to cancel or materially change an order should be made as early as possible. Once substantial preparation or custom work has begun, all or part of the deposit may be required to cover work and costs already incurred. Wedding and large-event arrangements may have specific agreed terms.
Pre-made cakes
Although based on a standard design, pre-made cakes are baked for the selected date and may include customer-selected variants or extras. Cancellation or changes should be requested promptly.
No-shows and missed pickup
If an order is completed and the customer does not collect it at the agreed time, a refund may not be available merely because pickup was missed. Contact us as soon as possible if circumstances change.
When Piece of Cake cannot supply
If Piece of Cake cannot provide the agreed product or service, we will work with the customer on an appropriate remedy, which may include a refund, replacement, credit or reschedule depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Nothing in this policy removes any remedy or right available under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986 or other applicable New Zealand law.
